Under Construction, but I Couldn't Wait Until I was Finished to Share

Using Tech as a Support
Individuals, families, educators, providers - we all know that there can be extra challenges to life. Tech can be a support to those extra challenges. I felt sort of funny adding this page to the website, but I'm a big advocate for utilizing available supports to help avoid difficulties and increase successes. I'm ALSO a big advocate for taking mental load off of already overloaded nervous systems!
On this page, which likely be ever growing and changing, you'll find apps, websites, 3d print ideas, and ways to use your phones and smart systems as supports. Some of it will be my own stuff, but a lot will be outside resources. If you see I'm missing something you think other people should know about, let me know! If you created something you want people to know about, let me know that, too!
Apple Shortcuts App
I am in love with this app. It comes on new devices but you can download it for free from the app store if its not already there. (Yes, there are other versions for other devices, but I don't have those other devices so can't help much.)
Here's what I want you envisioning with this app:
-
Customizable "apps" that can support communication, regulation, and processing
-
Ways to decrease the executive functioning requirements from a task
-
Ways to take the mental load off of one person without losing that support for someone else
-
Automations of reminders, to dos, checklists, grocery orders, routines, prescription refills, and so much more
I'll link info and "how to" resources soon below in case you want to create your own shortcuts, but first look at some of the ways you can use this app and download any you might find helpful for your own use. More coming!

You need to know about Google Forms if you are a parent of kids with extra needs. You can create questionnaires for your kids (that you can also automate USING Apple Shortcuts), get prompted to easily track data on a daily basis or under certain conditions, and so much more. There's a longer tutorial posted to the right for anyone wanting more in depth help. You can also request help learning how to make something or just ask to have it made for you!

Here's a bit more in depth help getting to know Google Forms. There are also a lot of other tutorials online! Don't want to bother with learning on your own? You can always request help learning how to make something or even just ask to have it made for you!

Here’s an easy and free app to use. It’s called Guardian Savings. It works like a virtual bank account where YOU actually hold the money for your kids. It has the ability to manage all kids in one spot. They can save, put different amounts in “jars”, earn interest, get a regular allowance…however you want to set it up. No need to keep up with dollars and change or random giftcards!
